Sikkim Goecha La Trek Itinerary

You will be taken to the airport for your flight to Bhadrapur. Upon arrival in Bhadrapur, you will begin a scenic drive to Darjeeling. After reaching Darjeeling, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will stay for the night

After breakfast, you’ll take a guided tour of Darjeeling, visiting the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Observatory Hill, and the Everest Museum. You’ll also explore the Padam Naidu Zoological Park to see rare animals, including the red panda and Royal Bengal tiger, and visit the Happy Valley Tea Garden to sample Darjeeling tea. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Dali Gompa to hear monks chanting and playing ritual music.

After breakfast, you will begin your drive to Pelling in a private tourist bus or van. The drive will be smooth and scenic, offering views of rivers, the Himalayan mountains, and small settlements along the way.

After having breakfast, you will begin your drive towards Yuksam. The journey will be scenic, with a stop at Khecheopalri Lake, also known as Kha-Chot-Palri (meaning 'the heaven of Padmasambhava'). This sacred lake is revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. At an altitude of 6,000 feet, it is also believed to be the emanation of Goddess Tara, blessed by Guru Rinpoche. After spending some time at the lake, you will continue your drive to Yuksam.

After completing your daily rituals, you will begin your trek towards Tshoka. The trail ascends uphill along the Rathong River gorge, passing through a dense forest of rhododendrons, ferns, magnolias, and various species of orchids. Along the way, you will hear the sweet chirping of birds and may catch sight of monkeys. The trail continues to ascend until you reach Tshoka, where you will spend the night at a tented camp.

Leaving Tshoka behind, you will ascend steeply through a beautiful forest of rhododendron. The trail is impressive and well-maintained. You will reach Phedang, where you can take a short break before continuing your trek past the 4,000-meter mark. As you ascend, the vegetation becomes more sparse. By the afternoon, you will reach Dzongri and set up camp. Afterward, you will hike to a nearby meadow to enjoy captivating views of Rathong, Kabru, Koktang, Simvo, Kanchenjunga, and Pandim. You will then return to your camp for the night.

You will begin your ascent, accompanied by breathtaking landscape views. Reaching a ridge at 4,115 meters, you will be treated to a stunning panorama of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Pandim. The ridge is adorned with colorful prayer flags and chhortens. After spending some time at the ridge, you will descend through beautiful rhododendron forests to reach the Prek Chu River, located at 3,749 meters. Enjoy a lunch here, with magnificent views of the surrounding scenery. Afterward, you will cross a river and ascend through pine forests to reach Thangshing, where you will spend the night in a tented camp.

Today, the trail is going to be comparatively easy. You will ascend slowly and further, trek along the river bank of the Prek Chu River. You will reach holy Samiti Lake, an emerald-green form of water nestled amidst the colorful prayer flags.

You will wake up early in the morning to see the gorgeous sunrise from a ridge behind our campsite. After that, you will have breakfast and begin trekking back on the same trail. You will descend down to the Prek Chu and trek through a forested trail to reach Phedang. You will stop for the lunch here and again descend on a steep trail to reach Tshokh. You will stay overnight in the tented camp.

After breakfast, you will trek back along the same trail to reach Yuksam. The trail offers beautiful scenery along the way. Upon arriving in Yuksam, you will check into your hotel and enjoy lunch. Later, you will explore the area and spend the night at the hotel.

After breakfast, you will begin your drive towards Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. En route, you will pass through Rabongla (or Ravangla) and the scenic tea gardens of Sikkim, including the Temi Tea Estate. Along the way, you will stop to enjoy a rejuvenating cup of tea before continuing your drive to Gangtok. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to explore Gangtok and stay overnight at a hotel

After breakfast, you will begin your drive towards Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim.
