Nepal Tourist Visa Information

As of January 27, 2025, Nepal continues to offer a straightforward process for obtaining a tourist visa. Most travelers can acquire a Visa on Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu or Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Lumbini. The procedure is designed to be quick and user-friendly, though processing times can vary depending on arrival volumes. During peak travel periods, it may take between 30 minutes to an hour to complete the visa process.

Visa Application Steps:

Arrival Card: Upon arrival, fill out the Arrival Card provided at the airport.

Online Tourist Visa Form: Complete the online 'Tourist Visa' form. This can be done in advance via the Department of Immigration's official website or at kiosks available in the airport. If completed online beforehand, print the submission receipt with the barcode and bring it with you. Note that this receipt is valid for 15 days.

Visa Fee Payment: Proceed to the designated bank counter to pay the visa fee based on your intended length of stay:

15 days: USD 30

30 days: USD 50

90 days: USD 125

While various payment methods are accepted, it's advisable to carry cash to avoid any potential issues.

Immigration Desk: With your completed form, payment receipt, and passport, proceed to the immigration desk for visa processing. An immigration officer will review your documents and issue the visa upon approval.

Important Considerations:

Visa Extensions: If you wish to extend your stay, tourist visas can be extended for a minimum of 15 days at a cost of USD 45, with an additional USD 3 per day for each extra day. Extensions can be processed at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or the Immigration Office in Pokhara.
