Himlung Himal Expedition is an exciting 30-day journey to one of Nepal's most intact and less-traveled peaks, located in the remote Nar-Phu and Manaslu region near the Nepal-Tibet border. Rising to an altitude of 7,126 meters, Himlung Himal offers a technically moderate climb, making it an excellent choice for climbers seeking to advance their high-altitude mountaineering experience in a stunning, less-crowded environment. This expedition also serves as ideal preparation for future climbs of 8,000-meter peaks like Manaslu, Cho Oyu, or Shishapangma.
Situated above the ancient Tibetan village of Phu Gaon, Himlung lies in the Nar-Phu region, northeast of Annapurna and northwest of Manaslu. The region, officially opened to foreign expeditions and trekkers in 1992, remains a restricted area requiring both a Nar-Phu special permit and a climbing permit for access. The valley rivals the beauty of the more popular Khumbu region, offering breathtaking views of Manaslu, Annapurna, and Gangapurna.
The climb to Himlung Himal is considered one of the safest and most straightforward 7,000-meter ascents in the Himalayas. The route involves minimal technical challenges and primarily features snow and ice trekking with limited rock climbing sections. The best climbing seasons are autumn and spring, when weather conditions are most favorable.
Himalayan Paradise Trek ensures clients' success by prioritizing safety, comfort, and efficiency throughout the expedition. We design itineraries to maximize the experience while minimizing wasted time, understanding the time constraints many climbers face. Since the area's official opening after 2001, this journey has become a unique opportunity to explore a pristine and culturally rich region.
The trail follows the Phu River, offering an unparalleled experience even within Nepal. The valley's proximity to Tibet imbues it with vibrant Tibetan cultural influences. The journey begins with a scenic private jeep drive to Besisahar, where you will spend the night. The next day adventure drive in a local jeep to Koto (2,600m). From there, the trail heads eastward, passing through Meta, Kyang, Phu Gaon, and eventually reaching Himlung Base Camp.
